But what about the GPS itself? I'd kind of guessed that's what the application was doing, but it doesn't really explain why I can't get a GPS lock.

I disabled those as per freakinvibe's advice on the last page. It fixed some intermittent HTTP errors I was getting but not the missing images.

I've wiped and reactivated a 9000 handset that I'm using for testing and sadly the problem is still the same.

We use bluecoat for corporate web filtering, not sure if that might have a bearing on...

I've raised a call with O2 about this (we can't speak to RIM directly). As part of the troubleshooting I've set up a handset on a default policy and tested the wap/internet browser - this works fine...
