Strange reconciliation problem

Hi all, I'm new to the forum so please bear with me.
We run a corporate BES with around 200 users. The BES version is 3.6, and the handsets are 7230s, 7290s, 8310s, 8707s and a couple of 9000 Bolds. We had a hiccup with the BES recently whereby the wrong SRP key was used. The upshot was that we ended up with some users having wireless reconciliation switched off.
After fixing the vast majority of the handsets, we are left with a few which still refuse to reconcile properly. These users can choose the "reconcile now" option and it will reconcile correctly, but it will not do it automatically (or it is very, very slow, as in more than 2 hours).
I've tried everything I can think of, including wiping the handset, removing and re-adding the user to the BES, recreating the MAPI profile and rebooting the BES.
The problem seems to have no relation to handset model.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm all out!
