I don't think it's a strange question at all. Actually it would be cool to be able to use the side bars for controlling up and down browsing, menu selecting, etc.

But I did find out that if you use IM such as Yahoo Messenger, they register as text messages on your plan (AT&T/Cingular). So beware of that.
