I agree!! Plus, the governemnt didn't do anything to get that 15%, at least the oil companies are refining and shipping the gas for their percentage.
Further, we need to start drilling (amongst other things) here in the US..

there is no law that says you have to give them that money. The pens have been proven wrong time and time again. Only a bank can keep the bill if they suspect its fake. Make them call the cops right then and there. I had this same exact thing happen a few weeks ago with a hundred dollar bill the grocery clerk said it was fake and wanted to keep it. I had the bank manager from the in the store bank come over and use their methods and it was real. SO dont trust those pens at all.

Maybe if we hit $5.00 a gallon they will offer the drink and hot dog.

I work for a oil refinery for the last 15 years, to tell you the truth, margin are super low.
This is the math, 42 gallons in 1 barrel, as of today, 1 barrel cost $136.38.
1 gallon of un-refine crude oil is $136.38 / 42 gallons = $3.25
State tax for gasoline is ~ $0.60 to $0.70 per gallon
This add up to $3.85 to $3.95

US dollars has lost about 35 % of it's value in last three years or so. That my friends is a major reason for $ 4.00 a gallon push water. Go do the math.

I doubt it....it can't be that simple. They make more out of oil then just gas.

We pay less than a lot of countries.
I also work for minimum wage and if I didn't have two jobs - one of which pays better - I don't think I would be able to even make it to work (which is 25 miles away, so 50 miles round trip) each day. This also makes it quite difficult to save up for other expenses, such as housing starting in August and ah yes, my cell phone bill. Sadly I don't even have carpool options at this moment, so 50 hour weeks it is for me! (Which isn't even that bad in the grand scheme of things..)

Money are make by volume, we process ~95,000 barrels of crude per day, other refinery are doing 200,000, 300,000 barrels per day, so every penny count and the margain is very small, at one point I was told, the more crude we process, the more money we loss, so we are at the boder line.
The above is a simplfy version of cost which is not including the shipping cost, refinery overhead, gas station etc........

There is plenty of oil available to us, we just need to drill it out of the ground...and build a few refineries.

well my $20 was real. If they had just listened to me it wouldnt have taken 5 days to get the darn thing back. The manager took it to the bank they tested it and said "Sometimes the pen gives false positives.. but you can always check the other security marks. This bill is real". So he called me and i went back and spent it on gas

I've been in lines inside gas stations behind people paying for gas (I use a card at the pump). I have seen employees working the registers shake their heads as someone says "$78 on pump 2".
