Default Anyone sucessfully tethering a T-Mobile Curve via Bluetooth?

Please Login to Remove!

I was wondering if anyone has been able to tether their laptop to a T-Mobile Curve using Bluetooth. I have a Nokia N800 internet tablet I'd like to tether but I really don't want to mess with the Curve's firmware like I did with my previous Pearl. I figured I'd ask first and save myself some frustration

Works fine for me, connect via bluetooth, add a dial up connection to dial *99# with no username and PW. Then add the init string to the modem connected to the bluetooth serial port (+CDGCONT=1,"IP","wap.voicestream.com")

There might be errors in that init string, it's from memory.

I checked that string against the one listed in the FAQ and it's right on. Good memory ;) I'll definitely give it a try tomorrow. Thanks!

Yes. I had this working with my 8800, and when I got my 8320 all I had to do was re-pair with the new device and point it to the right COM port.

It kept all the dial-up networking settings and everything.

Not that you would ever want to do this, but the tether even works over a WiFi connection.

Maybe this would be useful for free data to your laptop in a Starbucks (T-Mo hotspot)?

Does anyone know if this uses minutes. I have a email only plan with no minutes.

Thanks!

is there a step-by-step post describing how to connect via BT?

If I have a BB model setup up on COM4 do I have to change it to work on different port?

thank you

Hi, has anyone been able to get the Curve tethered to the N800 as requested above, or the N810?

The com port stuff doesn't mean anything to non-sophisticated person like me, I don't see anything about com ports in the N810 or N800.
