Default IM Service ID not implemented

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I'm trying to use Live communication server with BB enterprise messenger:

-LCS2005 SP1 is up and working (tested with desktop clients)
-BES is configured for LCS (FQDN, protocol, port)
-Enterprise messenger is installed on HH (oc.zip)

When I try to login from the HH messenger, it just says "Logging on as: ..." forever.

When I check the BBIM log file on the BES i see this everytime I try to login:

<2007-09-12 12:10:45.687 CEST>:[268]:<BBIM_Sxxxxxx_BBIM_1>:<DEBUG>:<LAYER = BBIM, DEVICEPIN = 2xxxxxxx, USERID = u2, EVENT = Exception, METHOD = onLoginRequest, ERRORCODE = IM Service ID not implemented>

I tried search here on the forums and google, but couldn't find anything.

Thanks for help

Ok, Problem solved.

Solution:

I used oc.zip (office communicator) and it didn't work as described.
Today I downloaded lcs.zip, installed it on the HH.

Both applications are named "Enterprise Messenger", but with lcs.zip I can actually connect to the LCS 2005!

(what the heck is oc.zip for?)

thanks anyway

Where did you find the lcs.zip. All I have been able to find is the oc.zip

The differences are:

lcs client:
-aka 'BB Enterprise Messenger'
-latest version is in the 'IM' folder of the 4.1 BES SP3 server download.

oc client:
-aka 'BB IM for LCS 2005' (but shown as 'Enteprise Messenger' in main UI)
-requires LCS Communicator Web Access
-available from the RIM site (do not use ocOTA.zip. I'm told by RIM that it is not a good package. oc.zip worked for me with a wireless push to devices).

Just got off the phone with RIM, who won't confirm if both can work concurrently via the same BES.... in fact, they're saying that the two clients are mutually exclusive, (with respect to the same BES, rather than the same client).

RIM support will get back to me, and I'll post here... but can anyone confirm the following:

Does the BES need to be reconfigured to 'OC' mode (from 'LCS/WM' mode) after CWA is installed, in order to use the 'oc' client?
Does the 'lcs client' continue to work, after LCS CWA exists in the organization?

After breaking my head with RIM support for 2 weeks, I figured out the solution here in the forums. So, thanks to you guys and here's a consolidated post for everyone's reference.

BES version: 4.1.6
LCS version: LCS 2005 without SP1
CWA : Not implemented.

1. If you dont have a CWA, The only option available is to install BES(and all subsequent SPs) with the Lcs + Windows Messenger Option enabled. Uses TCP/TLS.

2. Lcs + OC ONLY works when you have a CWA installed and you can point the Blackberry Collaboration service to it. Uses Http/Https.

Also note, the only Lcs client(lcs.zip) that can be used with Point 1 above is the one that comes with your BES installers in the IM folder. Do not try and download it off the Internet or anywhere else. This is the reason for the 2 weeks it took to resolve our issue, nobody(including RIM) knew what client will work.

Make sure you have Microsoft Messaging Queues(MSMQ) service installed cos the BBIM Connector service will not start without it.
