Default Email Acting Funky

Please Login to Remove!

OK... This is weird...

I have 4 email addresses:
...@gmail.com (Personal)
...@hotmail.com (Private)
...@markerman.com (Business)
...@rogers.blackberry.net (Blackberry)

I woke up this morning to a surprise that I have NO email. This is a rarity, as I receive at least 5-10 emails at night while I am sleeping. So I went onto Outlook and checked my email. Of course, those 5-10 emails are sitting in my Inbox, none of them were pushed to my Blackberry.

I called Rogers, and they said anything Blackberry is running just fine. The only thing they recommend is that I delete the accounts in BIS and re-add them. So I did.

I sent out test messages again to all of my accounts and the only email address that receives anything is the rogers.blackberry.net one. The weird thing is, NOW, when I send and receive in Outlook, the test emails don't even appear on Outlook.

So as a last check, I log into the web-based interface of all of my other (non-Blackberry.net) accounts, and of course my test emails are just sitting there in the Inbox. In other words, neither Blackberry Push OR POP3 worked.

I don't know if it matters, but I have no issues calling numbers, sending and receiving SMS Messages, or sending and receiving PINs.

Any thoughts?

First thing I would is pull my battery (while the BB is powered ON) and reboot the device. Give that a few minutes to push any email.

If still a no go, go to Options > Advanced > Host Routing Table and click to the menu to click "Register Now". Pull the battery and reboot again.

Finally, if mail is still not working, resend your service books:

And again, pull the battery to reboot.

Good luck.

Default emailnot going through

I am having the exact same issue. None of my emails are being sent to my BB 8800. This started occuring yesterday afternoon (Tue, Aug 13th, 2007). I have tried everything suggested in the previous thread, but still no dice. I am on the Cingular (AT&T) network in the Bay Area. Is this a known issue? Thanks.

Conker, I don't see other Bay Area users posting about a AT&T outage, (and there are several on this board) so I bet it is a device issue.

If you have tried EACH of the above approaches:
1-reboot
2-host register
3-resend service books

...then I would suggest you deleted your BIS accounts, and wait, and then put them back in.
How to add / delete email addresses - BlackBerryFAQ

If still nothing, you need to call AT&T and make sure you account is active.

I am having a similar issue with service in Chicago. I will perform the measures above to attempt to correct.

I am getting most of my email (but not all) on my hosted BES. The hosted BES emails, if they come, are at least 10 minutes late, but usually closer to 20-30 minutes late. Not sure if this is an EMM (my BES host) issue or not. Time to find out.

EDIT: Just found out it is an EMM issue, so RIM and Sprint are in the clear.

I suggest resending your service books in the BIS.

Hi Guys, I am still not receiving any emails. However, I can send emails. Did I screw up some obvious configuration setting? Thanks!

Conker, maybe you have a filter set for the BIS account?

Have you actually deleted and re-setup the BIS accounts? If you did, this would have removed any filters you had.

Can you receive any message PIN or to a direct [email address] address?

This is a good suggestion. I do have filters set, but I have not touched these, and I verified the "Forward messages to device" radio is checked. I actually have never sent a PIN.

I guess I will bite the bullet and re-setup my main BIS account. Thanks.

So, just to make sure... I can delete [email address] and re-add the same address? I assume I will lose all my filters, so I will need to recreate them? Also, how do I send a PIN ?

Thanks!

My guess is, the BIS is not seeing your BlackBerry. Deleting and resending service books normally corrects that. If you could have someone send you an email ar your xxx@mycingular. etc. address you could verify at least the BIS sees your BB. It would help knock off the list one of the possible problems.

Yes, you will lose all your filters, you need to do so, to see what the glitch is here.

Yes, you can delete that address and recreate.
You won't be deleting your account, just that email from the account, and then you readd it.

Thanks, I was on the phone with Cingular (had 2 go up 2 levels of support). The lady was actually very helpful and knowledgeable - I guess that's what you get when you go up the chain of command - and she helped me delete the account. She actually called RIM, to hold the address (mycingular address) so that I could re-add it. Everything seems to be working now. The only thing that sucks, of course, are my filters are gone. I guess the best thing to do is add the filters in Gmail, since it's likely I might have another issue with BIS somewhere down the road....

Well I think it was just a glitch. The above solutions worked for me. Thank you all for your input.
