xm is offered by at&t but i have not seen any reviews on here about it working with BB. Sirius is a no go, its not offered and the webclient player does not work with BB. From all the posts the answer is unfortunately no. I wish i could get sirius, i would pay for a player..

Bandwidth is also a big issue. Not sure EDGE would support decent radio.

Open your Media Net browser and on the search, type in xm radio. Then follow the instruction on how to download it. This is for AT&T/Cingular customers. I had XM Radio on my LG CU500, HTC TyTn/Cingular 8525 Pocket PC Phone, and on my BlackBerry 8800.

Streams very well, no lag, no slow down, no hiccups. Good luck.

Check this thread out. This company says they will be adding the ability to stream Sirius and XM to their media player soon.

Please be aware that you are not actually listening to it over satellite, it is over the Internet, so like was said earlier, bandwidth is an issue unless the stream is heavily compressed.

Right now Sirius satellite streams are about 64kbps per station with a theoretical max of 125kbps per station. To me, however, it sounds more like a 32kbps mp3.

The internet streaming comes in 32kbps and 128 kbps premium. EDGE could handle the 32kbps readily. 128 would be accomodated by any 3G or a richly provisioned EDGE.

For the record the merger has not taken place and more than likely won't.

When the FCC issued the two licenses for Satellite radio one of the rules stated that one company can not hold both licenses. The main reason Sirius wants to buy XM is to control all of the Satellite radio spectrum and eliminate their competition.

This would be bad for the consumer on many levels.

Oh, I see. When I was searching for the bandwidth I briefly saw a headline that seemed to indicate the merger was complete. Thanks for the correction. I've edited the post to that effect.

XM for BB is a paid subscription service. Approx. $9/month charged directly to your cell account. No contract so you can cancel anytime. I used it all day today at work & it worked pretty good. I get full signal at my workplace so no issues. All my coworkers are very envious. Especially the one who bragged about the iPhone since it was launched.

You can get more details about the service at mobitv.com

Default WM5 Sirius

There is a SIRIUS app for the winmo platform that works great on the blackjack called "SiriusWM5" The developers also have versions for ppc and are working on the iPhone (yuck). If someone ported that application to the bb platform it would be downright earthshaking. Being able to pair up my BT headset and listen to sirius indoors is freakin' awesome.

Are you kidding? It would GREAT for consumer. Mel is offering $7/month service with 25 cents per additional channel.

Neither company can survive on its own. Without merger they go bust.

I cancelled mine. Some channels buffers too much and it was useless unless if I listen to it during non-peak hours. Cingular even credit me back the month before.

How would this be bad. XM and Sirius are somewhat competitors in the fact they want subscribers, However, their main competitor is Free Radio. They are both trying to lure listeners from Free Radio to either XM or Sirius, they aren't trying to get people to switch from XM to Sirius or vise verca. It would only be beneficial to the consumer. You would be able to have everything like if you like Howard Stern and Baseball, you would have to have both. Now it would all be one.

This merger will only benefit the consumer. There will not be a price increase. People said when Howard Stern signed up, there would be an increase in price, however this never happened.
