Default Group SMS Texting

Please Login to Remove!

My job requires me to send out multiple SMS messages to various people. Is there an app that will allow me to create a group, and distribute it the SMS out to various people? Every single cell phone I have owned has had this feature standard

We have solved this issue by creating a distribution list in Exchange (in the Global Address Book).

Of course, this would be using the BES...

Yes, I would pay 100 bucks to add group txt to my 7100, someone has to be able to develope 3rd party software that would let us put together groups and send them sms.

hmm... I could add this to Mindit Assist in a second, as it already supports sending SMS as part of a normal command email to your virtual assistant. The resulting SMS traffic would be sent from your server, not your Blackberry, but the results would be the same.

command message example:

...
asSMS 'phone# here'
msg 'your sms message here'
...

First line sets the phone number (asSMS command)
second line the message (msg command)

Process:
1) send a message to you virtual assistant containing:
A) phone numbers (or the name of a group)
B) text for SMS message

2) Assistant process the request on your behalf and sends the message to all the phones

3) Assistant sends you a message saying the task has been completed

Right now 'asSMS' is a one shot (single phone number) command, but it could easily be expanded. That said, Mindit is configured to use an SMS gateway service for sending SMS traffic. If the message format needs to be something like 'Phone_number + sms_text' and your TelCo provides an email address to route it though it should work fine as is.

Let me know **exactly** what you want to do and I will see if I can do it. As for a price - Mindit Assist E1 = $100.00 US, so dollar wise we are on the same page - even if you don't need all the quote and document automation it offers.

Over,

Ian

Default Why not teleflip?

Just create your mailing list as a list of [email address] addresses and send an email to it - it's free and it works...

If an intended recipient hasn't changed carriers that will work! We moved over from ATTWS to Cingular in early March and SMS messages to my number @teleflip.com result in an error message - no DNS associated with that number. Apparently, the database that ties a number to a carrier does not get updated very often.

Here is the error message I just got back after trying to send an SMS to my cell phone via teleflip:

"We're sorry we were unable to deliver your message via Teleflip. No more delivery attempts will be made. Included is a list of recipients and the reason your message could not be delivered.

[email address]
There are no DNS entries for the hostname mobile.att.net. I cannot determine where to send this message.

The original message is attached."

Problem is, I'm no longer with AT&T; the same number got ported over to Cingular when we moved to Balckberries.

Well if you did not want to spend the money could'nt you send all the people you needed to SMS a test message (tell them not to reply ) (also send it to yourself) then hit reply to all and send what ever group SMS message you needed too ?
