Hello all,

I attempted to transfer an mp4 that was made with my ipod dvd converting software suite. I tried to play the video and got the following error:

I am using DVD Decrypter and Videora Ipod Converter. Any ideas or suggestions?

Make sure you aren't trying to convert to h.264.....the 8800 can't understand that. It CAN understand h.263 codecs, however. By default, I think the iPod converters out there will convert something into h.264 format.

Check the sticky at the top of the 8800 forums on video conversion. There are lots of tips in that thread.

Should I use Handbrake or Roxio Toast? I am very confused because originally I made a regular mp4 using handbrake, connected my Curve to the and transferred file. But it gave an error message.

You need to use a supported codec as well as a supported format.

If you are using Handbrake and Roxio, I'm assuming you are on a Mac.

For Handbrake, you MUST choose the FFmpeg option under "Encoder," otherwise it will convert the file to a H.264-compliant format for the iPod. The 8800 won't support H.264 at all. You'll get an error.

Again, check the stickie for more info on frame rates, etc to keep the file size reasonable. I can rip most DVD's down to less than 200megs and they look and sound great, although I occasionally get the audio slightly out of synch with the video. I've never been able to resolve that and it seems to be completely random.

This is a very helpful tip takeshi. I've tried several different pieces of software with only a few successful results (most of which I can't seem to recreate except by accident!)

I use this free program: SUPER © . which gets the video to my 8800 with no problems. I haven't tried this, but it's also free: iTinySoft Total Video Converter---Complete Solution for Video Conversion
