Default O2 UK retentions cannot get tariff pricing correct

Who would have though it? O2 can’t sell their own products, at least their retention dept seem either unable to or more probable they just cannot be bothered.

I have been an O2 customer for years and was excited to upgrade to the 8100, retentions sold me a £19pm talk package and a £10pm unlimited data package, I confirmed this at least 3 times on different calls to retentions (I was price comparing with Voda, Tmobile etc.).

Received the 8100, cool looking device, can’t even notice it in my pocket xxx61514; it feels so light compared to my previous O2 IQ. After a couple of days the “Data Connection Refused” message was still on the home screen so I called CS. Guess what the data dept couldn’t activate the BIS as my tariff was incorrect and I should be on a £15pm data pack not £10pm and as such, they cannot activate BIS until the system has the correct tariff information. Ok then (20 mins later) back to retentions.

This time I will take no bull, but unusually (in my experience) I was connected to a rather intelligent chap who corrected the problem, and put me on a £15pm data and £20pm talk package, he credited my account £133 in order to make up the difference over the contract period.

It will take approx 1 day for my new tariff to become active, then the BIS will take another 1 day according to O2.

What I am looking forward to using my BB

1. Push email (taking my office with me, no more heavy laptop)
2. Google Maps with GPS

I am sure I will be a regular user and hopefully with time contributor to this site.

Welcome and glad you sorted O2 out. It does take time, but believe me the hassle will be worth the wait.

Keep taking out the battery, and reseting the BB, you might find you come a BB User quicker. The carrier has to officially give you a period of time to activate your usage however, i have found it can happen far quicker.
