Do a search on this forum for "javaloader". With javaloader.exe you can save the .cod files off of the device with a command like "javaloader -u save whatever.cod". As far as .alx files, you are out of luck as those aren't stored on the device, however, when you want to load the .cod's on a device, just use "javaloadr -u load whatever.cod".

Would the javaloader work if the guy that mysteriously got the nextel html browser tried to retrieve it off his bb? Or would that be an alx file?

Probably not...the browser requires a service book too...won't be able to get that with javaloader.

Same question but with an added twist.

I have the same issue; I would like to backup some appliations for reinstalling at a later date.

javaloader -u save *.cod and javaloader -usb save *.cod does not work. I get the error "module does not exist".

Is there a way to save an OTA download to a file for reinstallation?

You know, I may be stupid.

I tried typing in the name of the module manually, and it saved just fine.

But I would still like to know about the OTA question...

You should be able to...you just need to figure out the names of the .cod files put on the device by the OTA installation. Try a "javaloader -u dir" to list all .cods on the device.
