Did you download it over the air (OTA) or to your desktop/laptop computer?

Easiest way is to install OTA. Go to the following site on your Internet Browser on your BB: www.blackberry.com/messenger/

Should be good to go from there.

Do a battery pull on your device which will force a hard reset. You should see the app on refresh.

jaja, ok, i have the same problem that you have, i tried to download the software twice with no luck, even it tells me that the application is already installed, went to apps installed and it is there, then i decided to give it a try with the desktop manager, opened it, then told me that blackberry messenger was available... i don't know what happened after that, I'm reloading the OS to the blackberry :P let's see if after that i can see the blackberry messenger :D

* **Update: after reloading the OS, i can now see and use blackberry messenger :D

the BBMessenger on the website (that you can download OTA) is not the correct version for the Pearl

to install/reinstall BBMessenger, you have to do it through the Desktop Manager>App Loader. The OS (whichever one you are running) comes preloaded with the correct version of BBMessenger.
