Default Hot tubs and Black Pearls

Please Login to Remove!

About a month ago my 8100 fell into the hot tub. Since then I've taken it a part let it dry for about 2 weeks but it still won't work. A red LED flashes and does not stop until the batt dies out. Is there anything else I can do?

Did you get the insurance plan (Assurion I think) with TMO?

I did, but I have a $100 detuctible. I'd like to see if I can fix it myself before I have to claim it.

On the back of the phone, there should be a circular white sticker, pinkish now if it got wet, make sure you replace that with another sticker of another phone, I'm not sure if your insurance covers water damage.

On mine it's on the upper left corner, on the side-just above the SDcard slot. You can see it with the battery in. At least that's where it is on mine. They stick them anywhere, though.

Have you tried wiping the phone with JL_Cmder?

You can also look at your actual battery. near the brass contacts there should be another one of those stickers.

try a wipe of the device as previously stated. If no white sticker Insurance will be your only route. If white sticker is not there it is automatically considered water damage and voids Warranty

I find that water damage is the largest accident i find people have with their phones. Convenient how insurance almost never covers it.

I know, I know, I'm probably sounding like a wet blanket, but...

"just claim it lost" "put another sticker in it"

Besides being insurance fraud, stuff like this is also one of the reasons why insurance companies stop covering certain losses and certain products.

Cingular is not insuring the 8100s in part because of the tendency of "lost" or "stolen" phones to wind up as "NIB" auction items on Ebay.

Not trying to be preachy, sorry, I'll go back to surfing the forums now...

That's not right. If I knew who you were, and I knew you did something like that, I'd report it as a fraud.

LMAO @ Impaler80s, wow, are you actually trying to come across as a never done anything wrong/by accident type of guy? the guy dropped his phone by accident on the tub, he is not trying to sell it on ebay to another person, obviously he tried to use the same phone, waited 2 weeks to dry it off and still doesn't work, the phone insurance does not cover water damage, I'm simply trying to help this guy out. Stop trolling around like you are a saint, by the way, what would you tell this guy? life sucks?
