Default Unable to get GW address book synched with BES

Please Login to Remove!

I am running BES 4.1.3, GW 7.0.2, GW Client 6.5.7. Everything else is connecting to GW, but the address book will not sync. It sees the address book, it pulls it from the mail store, but it just doesn't finish the process. I have attached a txt file that shows what happens when I run GWSystemAddressBookSync.exe.

Any help, any ideas, anything would be greatly appreciated.

If I find an answer in the mean time, I'll let you know.

Don''t know if it helps, but BES 4.1.3 with GW 6.5 GWClient 6.5.7 works fine on address book side here.
Can't post output yet, but my GWsys...exe output is not much different than yours. only different nr's

See you fixed it:

Just bumping this post a bit in hope for an answer.
I preformed a slow sync and that brought over the contacts, but if a new contact is added, that one will not sync. I'm at a loss with this one.

I don't see an issue with that screen shot, Are we talking about the System address book or syncing a user's personal address book?

Well in the case of my issue, the GWSystemAddressBookSync.exe output also has no problems, but still no sync.

This is for Syncing user's personal address books.

I have a SDR with RIM regarding this issue. It's a known bug with v4.1.3 for GroupWise. I have the same issue which has not resolved itself. Here are some of the steps I have undergone with the assistance of T-Support:

1) Turned Address Book sync off, cleared Address Book contacts on the device through Desktop Manager. Set the Address Book synched to NONE. Waited 4 hours. Turned Address Book synch on and pointed to an address Book. (DOES NOT WORK)

2) Ran SQL 2005 command: "Delete from mbpimsync where userconfigid = xx AND pimtype = 1" where xx equals the user's id. It clears the Address Book data from the database. Pointed back to Address Book and turned synch on. (DOES NOT WORK)

3) Exported the GroupWise Address Book contacts to a text file. Created NEW Address Book in GroupWise. Imported the text file into the new Address Book. Turned synch on, pointed to new Address Book. (DOES NOT WORK)

Only thing that SEEMS to work is to delete the user completely from the BES and then re-add them.

To check for next address book sync:

On the BES server, check your logfiles at "C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Logs\20070523".

Look at the Address Book logfile called SERVERNAME_GWPA_01_20070523_0001.txt. You may want to make a copy of it and open the copy.

Do a find for "NextRun", that tells you the next sync time for that user. User should call you after that time if they dont see their address book.

If you dont see that logfile, the service might have crashed. Restart the "BlackBerry GroupWise Service" using the Services console.

I have another scenario for you. I dont mean to hijack the thread, and if I do, I apologize.

All of my BlackBerry clients have their GW address books synched through the BES.

One of my clients is starting to lose some of his contacts. These contacts are in multiple address books, if that makes any difference, but the BES is set to use only the "BlackBerry" address book. Do any of you know what would cause him to lose contacts randomly?

Default Me too

Hey there,

I too have this problem and have an incident open. They are too making me jump through the hoops to try to figure out what is going on.

My address book sync's, kinda. The ONLY thing that seems to work is a brand new contact from either direction. If I change/modify a user in anyway, the change does not get propagated. Only the first time a contact is created will it sync.

Yes, I did all of the steps you did to try to make this work. Maybe, just maybe, IT REALLY IS BROKEN!!!!!

How do you get to the SDR? I tried searching on the Blackberry support site and it returns no hits.

I think this may be our problem as well but I would like to look at the details to be sure.

Thanks

ditto - got the same sdr. after the circus act. RIM says we might fix that in the future - we just aren't going to tell you when.

gotta love it
