Red face Help! Muting The Keypad?!

Please Login to Remove!

Hey everyone,

I'm either in class or at work, which i'm "not supposed" to be on my phone but i am anyways So im always on VIBRATE... sometimes ill wanna check my minutes like punching "#646#" but unfortunately when punching the keypad, there is sound...

Is there anyway to mute the keypad when dialing out? I tried playing around with the phone and I cant seem to figure this one out. The keypad still makes noise even on SOUND OFF.... any know a way to mute this feature????

just figured this one out.

send yourself a text message with #646# in it.
when you read the message it gives you the
option to "call #646#

Great (non) answer.

esbe02 - there is no way to mute the key tones when you dial a number.

How is that a non answer? If you send yourself a text message with any phone number, you can then call that # without hearing the keytones.
Exactly the answer.
I love how some ppl are so quick to shoot down ideas before even trying them.

And yes this works

So whever I want to dial a phone number, I should e-mail or text it to myself first.

OK. Thanks.

To check the minutes it is *646# not #646#.

He had specific ? Which I answered. And no once you've sent it once you have it intl you delete the message. And it is #646# at least for tmo. How about setting #646# As a contact. Once again no key tones when you dial. Wow this forum does have a lot of rude ppl

It doesn't make sense, huh? I like to run in a silent-running mode as well, and right here in the Options is an entry to Mute the keypad. Logistically this should..... wait for it.... mute the keypad! Gimme a break here RIM. On most handsets having sounds when you dial actually slows down the process and causes missed numbers (due to the need for the hardware to generate an actual sound from the software through the hardware). I'm a very fast dialler and more than once have outpaced my Pearl and had to go back and re-dial.

This .... *thinking* .... yes, this is the only phone-type-device I own that will not allow me to turn off the keypad when dialling. Annoying. (still love it though)

The easiest way to keep your keypad silent is to destroy the speaker. :D

thats funny, my speaker just died on me last week.
I've had my pearl since sept with no major problems.
Out of nowhere the speaker stopped working all together.

My replacement pearl just came today
