nice shortcut tip. i did this & it did replace the bars with a numeric value. pretty sweet. the thing is, the same code does not bring back the bars. what is the reverse of this shortcut?
also, do you know the numeric equivalents for the stages of bars (1 bar=? to ?, 2 bars=? to ?, etc.)?

Is there a link/thread showing all the alt+ commands? I did a search and no luck.

Read any of the tips and tricks threads and you will find the NMLL trick (and answering your next question, while this changes the signal strength from bars to numeric, there is no ALT code to change the battery code to a percentage). ALT NMLL has been around for at least 5 years.

Well thanks for telling me bout it, so I looked it up in the keyboard/shortcuts and I tried ALT+NMLL and it didn't work. My signal bars stayed the same. Also a quick off topic question if you guys would answer. I saw that in the shortcuts section that holding ALT+CAP and ALT+CAP+DEL key both didn't trigger the shortcuts that it was suppose to. Is there a problem?

Certain themes do not display the signal strength in numeric values on the home screen. I use Today Plus and the space for the bars is blank. However, the numeric values do show up in the rest of the screens, such as browser and phone. Its a theme bug.

Actually, it is ALT-NMLL on non Suretype keyboards and ALT-NNMLL on Suretype keyboards.

To reverse ALT-NNMLL (on a Pearl), you type <drum roll please>

ALT-NNMLL (again).

I don't know the translation of bars to dBm (numeric)
