Default DataVault - Great app, great support

Please Login to Remove!

I'd been looking for a good replacement for the built-in password keeper for some time, but never found anything I really liked. A friend was a big fan of SplashID, but it just never "did" anything for me. Recently, BlackBerryCool had a review of Ascendo's DataVault and gave it a very good rating. Also, it had a list of features that seemed appealing. So I checked it out, try and buy, you know.

So I tried it out and noticed a few annoying things about it, so I emailed the support people at Ascendo. Within half an hour they told me that everything I complained about would be fixed in a new version, probably available in a day or two. A few minutes later, they emailed me the fixed version, which was, in fact, fixed. I immediately went out and bought the software.

This seems to be the best of both worlds: really good software and really good support. I'm a pretty critical guy and I don't buy a whole lot of software, but Ascendo sold me!

You don't need a huge review of the software itself from me, just go download it and try it for yourself.

Hmmm.....sounds like someone works for Ascendo. Haven't seen such a vague review coupled with such praise for support.

I am testing it now on my 8700. Has a few things I am speaking to them about. For now Crypt remains my fav, but I will be updating my data page with DataVault and Crypt. Minisafe will be gone.

no desktop. Good for only a few items. Not really functional for lots of data. I keeps lots of secure stuff not just passwords.

I'll put my vote in for SplashID also. I liked it when I used a Palm device, & bought it when it came out for the BlackBerry.

For those that have used both - which has the stronger BB app and which is stronger on the desktop? Thanks

I personally believe they are all trying to catch Crypt. Very easy to use on desktop. Very secure sync. You don't have to input your password so that means a keylogger can't get you.

I don't work for Ascendo, honestly, but I liked their software and was very impressed with their support. I mean, how often do you get a response to complaints about software like that?

From what I can tell, SplashID is pretty good, but I like that DataVault has a hint feature for the master password and will also wipe the data in the event of too many incorrect password attempts.

Hi troutab81,

I understand your concern. I monitor forums regularly to see what users are requesting and I have seen dubious posts from time to time. I confirm that the person who started this thread does not work for Ascendo and is in no way affiliated with Ascendo or any of its partners.

and to cover our backs even more, despite Marc's namesake, he's not a member of the BBCool staff. We've had a good relationship with Ascendo for a while, and would never be anything but honest in reviewing their products.
