Default Camera Click - Anyway to mute it?

Please Login to Remove!

While the click sounds cool, its nostalgia has worn off. Anyone know of a way to mute it? I checked in Camera Options, in Options, and in Profiles.

Thanks,
Z

Default Magmic Games

Anyone have any idea when the games that were free on the mobile bb page will be available for the Pearl, lik ethey are for 7100 series and the 72xx series. The two games I am specifically talking about are Texas Holdem' King (with multiplayer) and Hearts (which I reluctantly purchased).

actually the games aren't free....not on the pearl. Texas Hold em is not listed. And when you go to the magmic site using your pearl, its says that both Hearts and Texas Holdem are not compatible with the Pearl

Well.. being the hacker than I am.. if you open up net_rim_bb_camera.cod in a hex editor, you will see a reference to the file "CameraShutter.mid" which I assume makes the click. One could, in theory, hex edit the file, change the name and the click would be gone.

Anyone want to try?

Assuming I did do that How could I get DM to load the new file, since it's the same size and version?

can you just wipe and reload the handset? or does there have to be some sort of compiling of the program first? there is way to much I don't know to even start mucking up the software.

Well, I was hoping to avoid an entire reload, since on my BES that takes about 2 hours. Was looking for a bit lighter weight approach.

If you want to give it a try, I can hex edit the file (4.2.0.69) and you can try it. Just PM me your email address.

As always, I take no responsibility if you brick you 8100, etc, etc, etc ;)

You got marbles my friend but its people like you that get things done that make our BB's more enjoyable. If editing the file doesnt work you could always do what someone else suggested and create a wav/mp3 file and set that as the tone the camera makes when it takes the pic? I have never tried as it doesn't really bother me that much. Good luck!

To mute the camera sound all you do is attach a wired headset or earpiece.

Yes, this works as the sound goes through the earpiece.

While that seems like the only solution right now, it isn't very practical for us non earpiece using users.

My Pearl came with a free headset in the box from Tmobile. I dont use it except when I want to take a pictute unnoticed. Then I hook it up, take a few pics, then unhook it.

not sure where that is right now. the cord always got caught on something rolling around in my bag. I suppose I could clip the wire off and plug up the phone whenever I want it to be silent.
