8100 connecting to PC via Bluetooth
Please Login to Remove!
I'm able to pair my PC and my phone via Bluetooth, however DM won't allow me to use bluetooth as a connection option. When I go into connection settings, the 'Enable Bluetooth suppot' box is greyed out and I can't select it.
Can anyone help me???

Does anybody know why I don't have the option to enable the bluetooth support in Desktop Manager?

Because it doesn't support OBEX File Transfers (basically just doesn't support file transfers over Bluetooth). No idea why they don't considering every other phone seems to.

You need to use the Microsoft Bluetooth Stack and you also need to edit the policies if on a BES
"Disable Desktop Connectivity" to False
"Disable Wireless Bypass" to False

That's what I was reading, however, Microsoft won't recognize it and when I go into services, I don't have a Bluetooth Support service like Microsoft says I should. Is there a feature that I need to install in Windows to use the MS BT Stack?
And no, I'm not on BES.

Good question, I was trying to do this just the other day.
I have an HP, and there is no native bluetooth client. When I delete the HP bluetooth software as the Blackberry site tells you to do, I can't use bluetooth at all.
Anyone else encounter this, or figure it out?

Hmmm... you sure?
These are the Bluetooth services that it reports as being supported for me:
Blackberry 8100 Device Services: Voice Gateway, BlackBerry Desktop Service R:0x03 V:0x20004, BlackBerry Bypass Service R:0x03 V:0x20003, Phonebook Access PSE, Dialup Networking, AUDIO Gateway
Compared to a RAZR I had laying around (which supports Bluetooth file transfers for me):
RAZR V3 Device Services: Voice Gateway, Hands-Free voice gateway, OBEX Object Push, OBEX File Transfer, Dial-up networking Gateway

I GOT IT!!!
I copied what was in the .inf file that the Bluetooth adapter was using, and pasted it in the bth.inf file the Microsoft uses. Then when I plugged in the adapter, it installed the Microsoft drivers.

Ah... so it does support it, but only on Windows, and only with special software/drivers I guess. Strange they don't just use the standard Bluetooth file transfer protocol (OBEX) so anything that supports it could use it.

I just used the OBEX protocol to transfer files to my phone via bluetooth. Go to media/menu/explore/menu/receive using bluetooth. Then on the pc, right-click on the file, click 'send to', then 'bluetooth device'. Worked perfectly.

The Desktop Manager uses the Microsoft Bluetooth Stack. Many Bluetooth adapters use the Widcomm bluetooth stack that doesn't work.

I was able to send and receive files from my pearl. The only thing is that you have to select "receive file" on the receiving end whether it be the pc or the phone. So you can't just pick a file then send it to whoever. So basically you can't be 30" away from your laptop and send a file to it. You actually have to be in front of it so you can choose to receive that file.

Thanks for the info
I have windows 2000 and was disappointed after learning I couldn't connect to the pearl without XP but seems like everything I hear the pearl can't do or everyone says it can't do someone figures out how to. I can do everything via my bluetooth software with/out using the blackberry desktop(still greyed out but works)
