Question Bluetooth Passkey

Please Login to Remove!

I just got the 8100 and when I attempt to pair with my powerbook through bluetooth I don't know what the passkey is for my 8100.

Is there a default passkey or is this something that has to be set?

Typically, you setup the passkey on the device that's initiating the connection. For example, if you're on the 8100 and trying to pair with the PowerBook you would input the passkey on the 8100. Then when the connection establishes on the PowerBook it would prompt you for the key and you would put in whatever to put it on the 8100.

Bluetooth passkeys are rarely preset other than for devices which can't take input (computer mice, bluetooth headsets, etc.). When you are pairing your Pearl to your PowerBook, the device you begin the pairing with will ask you for a passkey. This can be anything. All you need to do is enter the exact same passkey on the other device and you're golden.

Most headsets and mice are 0000. Since what you are creating when you pair these devices is one use only, 0000 is just fine. You'll never use it again.

when i pair with my powerbook the passkey doesn't come up right off. it will prompt you for the passkey on the pearl but then push the exit button, then click continue on the mac and the passkey will come up and the prompt will re-appear on the pearl.
