Default A BES Admin's Dream.........

Please Login to Remove!

A BES ADMIN's Dream,

Is it possible to configure a web console or portal to allow users or a helpdesk to activate accounts. Similar to how service providers enable their webclients? Click a button and service books are sent. THis would authenticate the user with our BES and intiate the slow synch process. Just a dream thought. Has anyone ever even thought of this?

Isn't that what Enterprise Activation does? You create the account and an activation password is sent to the user. The user types in their email address and password and select Activate. Ten minutes later the handheld is completly activated.

Web administration is supposed to be available in BES version 5.0.

BerryStats can do a good portion of what you are looking for... (see my signature).

But it is good to hear that 5.0 will offer this. It's about time!

Yes. But still requires BES Admin intervention. Create account set password etc...The thought is to automate the entire process.

web-based administration will not be part of BES 5.0 out of the gates (atleast they have no plans of having it available at launch). there is a definite indication and plan that it will be included after BES 5.0, either in a SP release or in the next major BES release.

March/April/May 2007 will be the release for BES 5.0; sales of BES 4.1 will cease in March, so I'm guessing late April or mid-May for 5.0.

They've had 2 new releases in 2 years, so for that purpose alone...

...then again, unless they change their licensing scheme, you could always find someone nice enough to download it for you and send. But that'd be bad.

Looks like it is in English (according to the screenshots) - and looks like it provides nearly the same functionality as BerryStats (or vice-versa).

raspBerry+ has really good code work as well as flexibility, but it is in German.

The work on raspBerry+ looks like it just started. Hopefully an English version will be in the works.

Idokorro's Mobile Admin pretty much lets you do that. Saved me a lot of hassles during afterhours. Well worth the price.

scripting (web-based perl, php, asp, etc) the current resource kit would easily provide most of this functionality through the MDS browser.
