7130e echoing when people talk to me
Please Login to Remove!
My 7130e echos when people talk to me on the phone. They can hear themselves echoing back through the phone. If I take out the battery and put it back in this resolves it for a few days and then it does it again a day or two later. I am on my 3rd 7130e, this is a brand new one and it still does it.
I know others have had this issue either, has anyone had a resolution to this yet, so I know what to do?
Thanks,
JPBerry

I have had the same issue!! I went through 9 7130's and they finally decided it was an issue with the model and sent me a 7250. When I received the 7250 I was very unhappy and was given the 8703.
Sometimes turning down the volume on the handset helps with the problem but then you have to strain to hear them.

I've had that happen on several different phones other than my Blackberry. I think it's a network fluke. When it happens to me, I hang up and call right back and the problem is gone.

This problem continues regardless of hanging up or not.
Does the 8703 not have the echo issue now? I asked them about this and they said they could not upgrade me but I they would give me the price at cost or something, which floored me!
I was thinking maybe it was something in my backup, like when I back up and restore the blackberry. That was the only common thread was I would restore my backup from the prevous 7130e that had the issue on to the new 7130. So I wiped my current 7130 and didn't do a restore from the backup. We will see if this fixes it, maybe something transferring through the backups.

I don't think that is a problem that could be transfered from a restored backup. When you do a backup, it only saves certain things like your contacts and calendar, not bugs in the OS.

Just hard to wrap my mind around all of these blackberries being defective and Verizon claims they have no claims made like this yet. Which I know that is a lie.

That should be your clue right there. A bunch of different Blackberries having the same exact problem, or the network having the glitch. Maybe it's the person your talking to having the problem with their device. The process of elimination should rule out your Blackberry.

No the network was ruled out. Does it to various blackberries in different locations. If it was the network it would do it on all blackberries in just certain locations. My friend comes over with his 7130 and his works fine here at my house while mine will act up.
If I go into the menu and switch from handset to spkr phone, back to handset the echo goes away or if I take the battery off the back of the phone and reboot it, the echo goes away for a day or two, it's definitely related to the 7130.

It is good to know that others are experiencing the same problem. I did not realize how bad the problem is until a friend suggested we swap phones. My suspicion, as others suggested, it is in the network. I will give some of the suggestions mentioned in this thread a try.

This happened to me once. I could hear myself, and the remote party had trouble hearing me.
I am pretty confident that it is not the network, because I've been on this (Cingular) network for five years using Nokias and Samsungs - and I've never experienced anything like it.
At the time it happened I was on a *long* call, and the unit had started to heat - I, perhaps wrongly, attributed it to that.
I did try using the wired headset which came with the unit, and that fixed the problem.
