Anyone seen a 3rd party case specifically for the 8100 yet?

Upgraded to the T-Mobile SDA case, and it works great!

I'm currently using an aftermarket generic leather side pouch until I buy an OEM leather holster for my 8100.

Thus definitely should have come with a case. It didn't have to be fancy, but something to keep it from getting scratched up while we wait for RIM's leather ones.

This isn't some cheap cell phone. It a BlackBerry baby!

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8100/4.2.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I've got rim's leather case. (or at least tmobs) They've been available all week

Still interested in what fortte.com is gonna offer tho

I found a nice horizontal one at Walmart with a magnetic clip cover. It has a built in belt clip that has a swivel and you could use it vertically. Don't know that I'd trust it that much yet but it feels pretty snug in the case.

It is the exact size of the 8100 and fits it perfectly. It is the exact length, width and depth of the 8100 and was about $10.00. It looked like it had been custom made for it but of course it wasn't. So far it has worked well.

I'd HIGHLY recommend people pass on the T-mo 8100 specific leather case.

It does *not* have a magnet to disable the screen. With the scroll button in the middle, every time i bump the device the screen turns on in the case.

This thing has crappy battery life as it is...

I agree with KlarUlz's post; the case is terribly designed. I got a cheap Samsung case which works better.

The missing magnet for "in holster" mode is bad enough, but it moving the Pearl is really bad.

I ordered the full body invisibleshield kit from shieldzone.com. I don't know about you guys, but the appeal of the pearl was the size and the ability to put it in my pocket (like my previous phone - razr). Using a case kind of defeats the portability, no? That belt holster look just isn't for me - and I think most of the women folk would agree that guys who wear their tech on their belt look like dorks . Invisibleshield is truly amazing stuff. I got it for my black nano and applied it right out of the box - never a scratch with rough use (armband clip, keep it in my glovebox, etc.) and it looks great.

Some of us like (and need) a holster and it is not available. Putting an expensive device in my pocket is not something I choose to do.

So for those that like putting the Pearl in your pocket, you are all set. But for those of us that want a case or holster, it is awful that RIM didn't offer once when the device was shipped. And T-Mobile is even worse since they sell you one that doesn't work.

I don't give a damn what women think of my BlackBerry... I want a holster now.

I looked at the official TMO case and found that if I put the 8100 in upside down the flap magnet did the trick with putting it to sleep. I'm more a fan of horisontal cases and the case for the SDA, as mentioned in another thread, fits like it was custom made. Sleep function works perfectly as well.

I just ordered a bestskinsever skin for my Pearl. They are super cheap ($4.99 for the screen only / $5.99 for the entire Pearl). I have had them for my Blackberries and Treos. They work great and keep the the device safe from scratches. Can't go wrong with the cost.

Perfectly. I put it in with the keys facing into me for added screen protection.

I went to the "Best Skins Ever" and it looks like it only covers the front and back and that's it.

What about the "Invisiable Sheild"? Does that one covers the side too?

Yes the tmobile SDA leather case puts the 8100 into sleep mode NO MATTER HOW you put the 8100 in the case, it works in all four possible holstered positions. Plus the case fits the 8100 perfectly.

Make sure you get the smaller SDA case and NOT the similar, but slightly larger, MDA case.....they look almost the same unless you compare them side-by-side.
