Default Is it possible to buy a 7130c for use on T-Mobile?

Please Login to Remove!

Currently I have had a 7100t since the day it came out and I absolutely love it. My problem now is that I really want to upgrade to the 7130c. Unfortunately, T-Mobile only offers a 7105t but I do not think it is a worthwhile upgrade and the 7130c looks amazing. Is there anyway to buy a 7130c and unlock it or get it to work on the T-Mobile network? Thanks in advance.

I am wondering the same. An unlocked one should, in theory, work fine. I heard that t mobile does not have the service books for it though. Does anyone have any experience?

In theory it should work but if Tmobile hasn't created service books for the 7130 then push email is a no go.

I actually tried this a couple weeks ago, and the news isn't good...even though the device was unlocked, becuase T-Mobile has chosen not to carry the 7130c, RIM has not produce Service Books specific to T-Mobile for the device. No way to get e-mail or internet access. I was bummed, wish the news was better.

If t-mobile is not going to carry the 7130, what is the replacement going to be for the 7105? It is more than a year old. I have a 7100 and need a new phone!

I have a 7100, since last summer (2005). It's fine. I can make calls, schedule appointments, use Bluetooth w/o incident, send/receive email, surf the web. Just like it was designed to do.

What does the 7130 do that my 7100t won't?

7130 gives you the EDGE... higher speed data connection. I have the 7105t right now and the screen is better quality than the 7100t which I still have collecting dust in my drawer...

So for sure we cannot use the 7130c on T-Mobile?
I was looking forward to do that

Just as an FYI, I called TMobile and said that I had a 7100T wanted to upgrade and that the 7105 wasn't worth the time. I told them I was hoping to get something like the 7130c and asked if anything was or will be available soon. Their answer was the 8700c or the sidekick3 .... they said they had no knowledge of anything else coming out in the near future.

If it wasn't that my wife has TMobile (and still under contract) I'd just move to Cingular.

According to a senior engineering manager at T-Mobile (who's been right in the past) they are NOT carrying the 7130. They are working on another device with RIM. That's good enough for me.

I am able to browse the internet fine but no email.
Interestingly yahoo mail is coming through fine.
Any suggestions? Or should I give up?

The Blackberry 8700 will be the closest thing to the 7130 for T-mobile.

I think once T-Mobile sees how well the 7130's are doing with Sprint and Cingular now, they will get into the ballgame. However, the Sidekick is doing well for them since they're the only ones to carry it. I used to have one and it worked great.

I just went to the "Setup Internet email" and clicked on send service books. All service books related to emails came down fine. Is there a specific service book that I should be looking for?
Still I don't see any push email for any other account other than my yahoo mail.
For browsing I only have one option and that is "Download Fun" from T-Mobile, I am able to browse the internet using that.
Google local and map is also working fine.
What does this mean?

I have already sold unlock codes for 7130c and the unlocked 7130c to T-Mobile customers and they have had no problems using these devices on T-Mobile

I think you have to wipe the handheld and let it restart. Then try to send the service books from a 8700g

Default It is working...

OK I finally gave up and had to try it out.

In short I will say that everything else works except the fact that the browser icon is missing. As a workaround I am using "Download fun" browser that comes with T-Mobile setup.

I have tried to access pretty much all the sites that I usually visit and they all are working fine.

Had a problem with push email (only yahoo account was working) earlier, I reset POP setting in GMAIL and that also is working fine now.

Could not do an OTA install of Yahoo mesenger and Google Talk, but with Application Loader I was able to install that as well. Installed all the rest using OTA method.

My setup
6 Internet mail - push working fine
Browser - Using "Download Fun". Internet Browser icon is missing. Any thoughts???
Yahoo Messenger - works fine
Google Talk - works fine
Opera Mini - works fine
Pico News - works fine
Blackberry Messenger - works fine
Google Maps - works fine
Pocker Day - works fine
BBWeather - wors fine

Question

With the 6 internet email accounts, are some of them NOT:
Hotmail or Yahoo? I have my own domain, and I wonder if that will work too. I know it works presently on my 7100g, on T-Mobile. But, am interested in getting a 7130c, too...

All POP emails are supported so I would say why not.
Good luck.
