whats so special about the TODAY theme
Please Login to Remove!
I was eager to download the today theme and installed it the dame JIBI made it available.
After using it for 2 days I went back to ZEN.
Maybe I did not look in the right places but as much as I tried I could not rearrange the icons on the home screen of the today theme like I did on the Zen theme.
I am curious to find out what the other members of the forum find so special about "today"?

You used it longer than me, less than 5 minutes and I went back to Zen ![Smiley](http://www.blackberryforums.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

It's new - it's great - have to upgrade - have to have it. NOW.
Oh - never mind; I don't use it. Or Zen.
I like a lot of icons....

I am an icon person as well. I like to see what I have on my BB. Today theme would be cool if you could control what went on it, like RSS feeds and the like.

Dimension Today shows where incoming emails are from on my homescreen which means that my hotkeys are also all active. That's the combination I like.
Icons??? ( ![Smile](http://www.blackberryforums.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif) to each his own....)

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8700c: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)
I don't like having to scroll through a bunch of icons on the home screen to get to what I want to. Also, no sub-folders to have to remember. My top SMS and EMAILS are on the home screen showing who they are from and the subject/1st part of the 1st sentence. All this is what I like. Plus it's something new. I like change.

Zen and Today provided the last thing I really missed from my SideKick II days: the ability to get to (almost) any application with only two keystrokes. A coworker of mine got a new 8700 today and I was really uncomfortable with all the icons and submenus offered by the default themes. Yuck!
Gotta love those shortcuts!
Memo Pad? CK-D. Wham.
Calendar? CK-L. Bam.
Browser? CK-B. Thank...
Google Talk? CK-G. ...you...
Alarm Clock? CK-R. ...Jibi!
And in the few days since I installed Today, I have really started to value the fact that I can be sure to see the next two appoointments right from my home screen. And I can jump directly to those appointments (or two most recent new e-mails) with a single click, rather than at least 3. And the Big-font time is cool. I'm using the built-in "Orbital" background image.

I'm thinking I'm going to give the Dimension-Today theme a chance. I'm really fond of the clean look to the Vodafone Today theme, but I suppose I'll try something new. I've rarely even touched the Dimension-Today theme in the last month or so that I've had them.

Just downloaded both Today themes-playing with Dimension Today now...love the functionality and home display...looks very cool with the different colored BB Tile wallpapers that jibi and others posted in another thread. I'll goof around with Vodafone Today next...
As always jibi, my gratitude!

From what I have gathered, this is NOT available for the 7100i, correct? If not will it be available soon?

Sounds like you have Dial From Home Screen activated in the General Options of the 8700 Phone app. Turn that off and all of those hotkeys will be one keystroke.

Give it a try, jibi. With a nice wallpaper it's a beautiful thing. And it's great to have the Messages hotkey; I can't figure out why they dropped that from Vodafone Today.

The funny thing about there being not hotkey for Email is that E-M-A are all unassigned, as well. They could have atleast picked one.

Anyone have the hotkey instructions for the Dimension Today theme on a 7100t? Thanks in advance.

I love the Today theme but I miss the ability to customize the home screen to show the applications you actually use. I know this was mentioned in the description, but I miss it. I have gone to the Bell theme to be able to move/hide icons.

For what it is worth, I found the Dimension Today theme to be totally cool, it is my new favorite...the Vodafone Today was OK, but didn't rock my world like the Dimension did...have never been able to get the calculator to work on the base Vodafone theme, and the same was true with the Today version. I do like the ability to customize my themes with wallpaper and Vodafone Today doesn't provide this option.
All a matter of personal preference, I can understand why some would like the clean look of the Vodafone version.

That's actually pretty strange. Themes usually shouldn't affect the basic BB apps. I would download the OS again from the Internet and do a reinstall. Sounds like something is corrupted.
