Is there one? A "wipe handheld" doesn't seem to purge all user settings and config data, for example.

If you know how to use it, you can do a USB wipe with javaloader and reinstall the current OS for your device.

Go to:

OPTIONS
SECURITY OPTIONS
GENERAL SETTINGS

Click the trackwheel and select WIPE HANDHELD.

That's not doing it for you? What's not being removed?

Sticky settings seems to be things like icon positions in the main menu (even after unistalling/reinstalling apps)

At the end of the day, I have a problem with the GoogleTalk client (covered in another thread http://www.blackberryforums.com/show...t=google+talk), and despite wipes/reinstalls etc etc., the problem persists. A colleague with another identical BB on the same network doesn't have this problem, so I was thinking my device is in a 'funny state', though in all other respects it seems fine...

OS reload may be the only option. Seems drastic, though.

If anything like the 8700c you can go into security and set a device passcode, after doing so enter the code more than 10 times wrong and it will wipe the entire device and disable passcode.

> enter the code more than 10 times wrong

Can anyone confirm that has a different effect than choosing the "wipe handheld" option?
