7130E Big Problem (Very Erratic Signal)
Please Login to Remove!
Ok, when I first got the 7130E back in Feb, I noticed the EVDO/1X switching issue that everyone else had been reporting. After the .268 firmware upgrade that problem pretty much was solved, but since then I have had a very erratic signal, I watch my signal strength go from full, to none, to half to full, all in a period of about 10 seconds...This happens pretty much all the time. So I called VZ tech, and they said they thought it was a bad radio in the device, made perfect sense, so they send me a replacement, same thing with the replacement, erratic signal. So I send back the replacement, go to the store and swap out for another retail device, SAME PROBLEM. after a bunch more devices and the same problem, we thought it had to be one of two things, either my nearest tower having problems, or my acct needed totally deleted and then recreated step by step. VZ sent out techs and the cell towers in the area were fine, I confirmed that with my Motorola E815 EVDO and my brothers 7250 EVDO, both had rock solid signals. So, before recreating my acct, the VZ tech loaded my number on one of his test devices, NO PROBLEM, it worked fine he said the signal never moved off of full strength. He then loaded their TEST number on my device here, and I saw the same erratic signal, so we them eliminated that it would be related to my number or acct. I suggested that it could be something in the latest PRL release and asked if we could retrofit my device with an older PRL version, he said that could not be done.
Now after about 7 different devices and testing in 3 different states and seeing the same erratic signal everywhere on every single device.. WHAT DO I DO?
VZ tech pretty much said, "well we can't figure it out, perhaps you should try a device that would work more to your liking" "F" that, they need to make this work, and I am a bit upset to hear that they are not very interested in getting to the bottom of this...
Any ideas??

I see that; they are more about EVDO drop outs and DCR. Still, all Verizon network issues that have not been resolved.

No, I notice the problem. Mine still switches back and forth between EVDO and 1X quite often, even though updated to the most recent firmware. And the signal is in and out. But Verizon is clueless; I've kind of given up on getting tech stuff straightened out with them.

Is your signal as erratic as I have stated, or is it just weak at times?

It does ten to be erratic, but it is not a constant thing. The signal will be weird for a few seconds, then stay the same strength for a while.

I'm experiencing very similar issues with my 7130e. Originally mine got DCR pretty often, since upgrading, I haven't had that issue. Now, however, I'm constantly going between Full EVDO signal, to 0 EVDO Signal to Full 1X over anywhere from 5-20 seconds. Within the minute, I'll be back to Full EVDO. It happens when the phone is sitting stationary on my desk. This week I'm traveling to different parts of the country, so I'll report if it happens there. Right now, I've only noticed it happening in Raleigh NC.
Any idea as to whether this is a cosmetic issue? Have you ever missed a call because they hit at the exact moment when you're out of service? When I'm talking on my phone, I have a few dropped calls a month, and it might be related to this, but I can't be sure if it's somewhere else in the network.

I have had this happen while traveling through the midwest. VZW does not have an explanation to this issue.

Just to update you...Verizon has thrown their hands up in the air and given up...They have told me, they have closed the ticket.. AND IT HAS NOT BEEN FIXED..
After 5+ devices, all having the same severe problem, you think they would want to fix it, NO! THEY DON'T!
I cannot believe this...

I guess you didn't read my thread...
My problem started as you described, erratic 1XEV signal and turned uglier after I used the 7130e as a modem.

I did not read your thread??? Dude, I am the one who posted in it multiple times telling you the correct config in the CDMA edit screen...and again, one thing has nothing to do with the other...If I am wrong, please show me...My problem has nothing to do with EVDO switching...
