Question Exchange Migration

Please Login to Remove!

We are currently running BES 4.0 SP2 for Exchange on a Windows 2000 Server in an Exchange 5.5 environment. We are preparing to migrate to Exchange 2003. Is it possible to support both an Exchange 5.5 and 2003 environment at the same time? We will be mixed for several weeks during migration. If so, what steps do I need to take to implement this?

After we fully migrate to Exchange 2003, I plan to use the knife edge method to move BES onto new hardware with a Windows Server 2003 OS. Does anyone see a problem with that?

Default question

How many users, what kind of database?

Are your users all local? There could be a lot of issues, it depends.

More info...

There are about 75 users. Some of them belong to different domains. Just curious, why would location matter? Right now we are using MSDE 2000 for the sql database. That is supposed to change in the future.

administration is easier, with everyone in the same place. As long as you take care of the Bes service account and everything should be okay. Is the database local or remote, (another machine?)

the whole thing should take about 20 minutes, move the service account, then the other mailboxes. After reconcilling with the database, you should be good.
