Default Remote Acces to PC via Blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

Has anyone checked out the Avvenu free remote PC access service (link below). I just saw it yesterday on the Blackberry Cool site and know nothing about it.

I've just set this up. It seems to get very good reviews abot security, if you check it out.

If if works well (and so far it has) then it seems the ideal solution to the issue of accessing and emailing files from a Blackberry. I am, currently, cheering.

Will let you know if anything goes wrong. (Fingers and toes crossed here)

I just wonder and would worry about giving anyone out there access to my machine, period. Too many things can go wrong in time. What seems impossible today is only a day away from reality, and by then you are too late.

Yes, I have the same issues as you. But then logic strikes and says it's no more dangerous than using Ebay - or this forum (!) in reality. Every single action we do on-line is eminently traceable - it doesn't matter where the trace starts, whether it's here or via avennu.

I've installed, uninstalled & re-installed and still cant get the app to run. Contacted their support team and have yet to hear anything. Orginal post here.

The problem with a lot of this type of software is that it assumes that either you're running BES or your workstations can be remotely accessed from the internet.

I wish someone would write a VPN client for BlackBerry.

Default update on using avvenu

I've had it going for a couple of weeks now and, on the two or three occasions I've needed to use it, it has been really simple. My offices are at home and I simply leave one PC running when I'm away so I can access things. Works well for me so far.

Question BIS or BES?

Can I download documents to my BlackBerry using Avvenu if I am using BIS? Or is this only possible using BES? I used Avvenu with no problem consistently with my PPC 6700, but I get an error message when I try to use my BIS 8703e that says the media type is not supported (or something similar).

If you've used this, can you detail how? Were you on BIS or BES? Any special settings, or it all ran smoothly?

As for Soonr, have people tried it with Skype?

Thanks!

Hi

I have just tried to access Avvenu for the first time in ages on my bb and I keep getting a 'communication error'. Works fine when I access on my laptop so must be something to do with the internet settings on the bb. I'm on Tmo, UK, using BIS Anyone any ideas?
