I just acquired a spare company issued BB 9700 (my company is on ATT) and I was wondering if I can use my personal "non-smartphone" ATT SIM card in it.

Basically, I am on the Medianet $15 unlimited non-smartphone" plan. IF I used my SIM in say, an android smartphone on ATT, they'll detect it and switch me to a 2GB data plan.

What would happen if I pop my sim into this company issued BB 9700?

PS: My apologies if this has been asked many times... pls point me to the FAQ.

They'll detect it an put you on a BlackBerry Data Plan.. Same deal.

Here's another scenario:

We also have a BB Pearl 8100 (non 3G) which we originally acquired Unlocked back in 2006. We do not have a ATT contract currently.

On the ATT OLAM, it has always been showing correctly as the Pearl. We've never had a data plan on this phone since 2006.

Can I swap out the SIM card from the Pearl and use it in the BB 9700 without getting slapped the BB data plan?
