I think my daughter got my BB Tour wet? The battery died...I charged it but it would not come back on...I took the battery out....replaced it..it came on, did the hourglass thing, and seamed to be working but then certain buttons won't work, can't get "ball" to roll when in certain menus, but in others it works fine. It works from main screen, but when i press menu or options button, it won't scroll to folders? If I turn it off, it won't come back on by pressing the On button..have to take battery out every time. It acts like 'slow' or that it needs an update but i can't get to the 'download update' buttons? it the keypad 'fried'? or is it a software problem? I really want/need to fix this. Can anyone help? Thanks much
If the device did get wet and the battery was not removed immediately then it may be too late. See blackberryfaq.com.
You could try making sure the device is thoroughly dry, just to be safe, and then try an OS reinstall. If it is in fact a software problem that will fix things. But if is water damage it is likely FUBAR.
See blackberryfaq.com. Find first the article on what to do if you get you BlackBerry wet. If it may have sustained exposure to a liquid, you must make sure it is dry.
To reinstall the OS, wipe the device with JL_CMDER or BBSAK. Again, see the faq. Then reinstall the OS with either the official release from your carrier (or use Desktop Manager), or install the latest OS following the instructions in the latest OS thread for your model. Go ahead and read the latest OS thread regardless for the education it will provide. Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile
aiharkness, thank you so much for replying, and for your advice! The BB info site you sent me to (now a shortcut on my desktop) was perfect. I will try as it reccomended, and now will be able to learn so much more!
