Default Email stops when I connect to Desktop Manager

Please Login to Remove!

I got a new 8520 recently and on Monday. Hooked it up to my PC and transferred all my Address Book Contacts & Calendar to the phone using Desktop Manager.

Next day I got the activation code from my company and put it in and hey presto I was getting emails. Next day I connected it back up to my PC to make some changes to my Calendar and after that the emails stopped.

I had to get a new activation code and it was back online however the day after that after I connected again to Desktop Manager it stopped receiving emails again. Back receiving emails again after getting another activation code.

Speaking to others in my company who have BB, they have said their contacts & calendar automatically update on the phone when they change it on their PC but it doesn't happen on mine.

Any ideas to help me out? Where am I going wrong?

After the first time I got the activation code and connected to the PC, it wouldn't sync the Address Book Contacts as it said it was set up for wireless synchronisation but I never set that up???

Wireless sync is setup when activated on the BES.

I checked on the Desktop Manager under Synchronise/Reconciliation and under Wireless Email Reconciliation it has "Your BES does not support wireless email reconciliation"

Any idea why this is as the others in teh company tell me there screen shows "Wireless Email reconciliation is turned on"

Another thing is that I only realised yesterday that I had the wifi switched off on the phone. The previous 2 times I connected to the Desktop Manager the wifi was off. Would this make a difference?

Should I connect the phone again to the PC with wifi switched on and will it change the setting?

You should talk to your BES Admin and not try to figure it out here.

You should never connect your phone to the Desktop Manager. Everything is synced over the air (mails, calendar, contacts, tasks, notes). By connecting your BB to the DM, you might break the sync.

how does it sync over the air?
Does my pc have to be switched on for it to sync?
I keep all my contacts & calendar on the pc and not on the work server.

That will be why it won't sync.
For it to sync it needs to be connected to the server that your BES is on.

I can not delete Facebook and telephone "inbox" messages from my BB 9670, all "normal" email deletes fine just not most Facebook messages and some telephone call voicemails. Help

@Mcsymbian: You have been reported to the forum admins

@MichaelLucarelli: You should create your own thread, as your problem is unrelated. To get rid of the Facebook messages, untick "Message integration" in the Options of the Facebook App.

Huh? Depending on the BB OS and the backoffice mail system, not everything is synced ota. I've used and supported all kinds of BBs for the past 6 years and connecting to DM has never nerfed any functionality.

That's right, but the original poster is on BES with Exchange and with that config he doesn't need to connect to DM to synchronize. Everything is synced over the air.

Actually I am on BES, but that is not configured to backup my Password Keeper so I periodically connect to my desktop with a USB cord, back up PK and everything still functions fine. I do not "break" the BES connection.

If DM is installed with the Desktop Redirector option... then connecting a BES enabled handheld to it will most definitely break the BES connection.
The reason is that Desktop Redirector will overwrite the [Desktop] service books that BES puts on the device.

If DM is installed with only 'BIS' functionality... then it will behave and not break BES.

No indication as to what version of BES that's running, but if it's not 5.x, no ota Exchange Public Folder sync. And to reiterate, hooking up to DM does not 'break' sync, unless it's configured incorrectly. We run BES 5.x but very few handhelds run 5.x OS, so we rely heavily upon DM for wired Public Folder sync and the config has never interfered with wireless sync.
