Default Need a BES Guru

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,
First post here so hopefully someone can help. Can this be done?

Have BESX 5.0 server at Site A (BES01A)
This server has its own SRP and the DB is SQLEXPRESS. It on a domain connected to exchange cluster.

Have BESX 5.0 server at Site B (BES01B)
This server has its own SRP and the DB is SQLEXPRESS. On the same domain and connected to the same exchange cluster.

Is there a way to backup the BB DB from Site A and restore it to Site B and get it working without having to re-activate the BB's?

I tried using the below commands to update the configuration but 4 services will not start.

update ServerConfig set ServiceName
update ServerConfig set MachineName

I understand BES 5.0 has high availbility but it does not apply to this scenario.

Thougth and suggestion are greatly appreciated.

Essentially, you're looking to merge two databases.
That can't be done.

Whenever you move a handheld from one configuration database to another, the device must be wiped and reactivated.

Hi Penguine3107,
Thanks for the quick reply. The handhelds are already in the DB on Site A when it gets restored to Site B. Since both servers are on the same domain and point to the same Exchange cluster is there no way to reconfigure BES on Site B? I understand this is going around my elbow to get to my a$$hole but this is enviroment I have been given.

Would it be better to have a machine with the same name and SRP turn off on Site B? That way I just turn it on, restore the DB and cross my fingers?

My servers are virtual.

Unfortunately, your environment doesn't make sense to me.
I'm afraid I won't be of much help in this case.

No, the transporter tool is for BES 4.1 to 5.0 migrations.

I looked into the transporter tool but that takes time to migrate. I need to be able to spin up Server B if server A dies. Basically I need the servers to mirror in case of a disaster on Site A.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I just don't think what I'm attempting will be possible with BESX

If they are virtuals, you would probably be better off using the hypervisor's high availability...

Upgrade to enterprise edition and use HA setup with database mirroring.
