Difficult to answer. The carrier service dictates a lot in the process. You also have issue with CDMA phones vs GSM phones. I wish it was an easy an answer.

Having said that, I contradicted myself on your 8520 vs 8900 thread. The 8520 came out as sort of a trackpad tester for the developers which is another debate.

Agree with akosnitzky that is really too difficult to really say. We get more negative experiences than positive. But from what I have read, heard, experienced, the 8200 clamshell and the Storm 1 were not among the best of the lot.

Thank you Dubdub. Also, our expectations change. I remember I was okay just receiving email from my 7510.

By far and away, the 5810.
The first BlackBerry with a phone integrate.

Although the 8220 Flip is pretty awful.

Showing your BB age NJ. My first BB experience was the 7700 series on Verizon.

Oh, that one was pretty bad too. The 7750. Battery life was worse than on an iPhone.

I'm interested in this...

You see... What I hope, is that I haven't made the wrong choice with the Curve 8520.
I can exchange this tomorrow for an 8900. As I am new to the world of Blackberry's... I really don't know which way to turn.

I have signed up for a two year contract with a network provider and don't want to be stuck with something that will become dated quickly... or something which may have problems... such as the track pad.

I am getting very used to this 8520.
Although there's many good reviews on the 8900...

Off the top of my head, I want to say the 8520 is the newer phone since it has the trackpad and I thought neither had 3G. Maybe some else can comment. Any 9xxx models available for you to attain?

lbl (laid back lennyjust in case you were wondering)
This dilema with the 8520 or the 9700 all I can work out is the longer battery, and G3,
and £100, is the 9700 worth the £100?

Here is a comparison between the two products - BlackBerry - BlackBerry | Wireless Handheld Devices, Software & Services from Research In Motion (RIM)

Only you can assess the cost difference and worth. The 8520 is an entry level BlackBerry. No GPS. Lower camera resolution. Dig deeper.

You see... The shop where I got the 8520... Has a very small variety of models... and most are kinda old.
The latest phone they have, is the 8520.
I started to read up on the models they have, and it seemed as if the 8900 was the better phone.
Neither have 3G and the 8520 lacks GPS (which the 8900 has).

So it's pretty much the thinking of... Go for an older but good phone (8900) or stick with the 8520.

Could I just ask... In your personal opinion, what Blackberry would you prefer out of all the models?

Many Thanks

With OS 6.0 arriving soon, I would choose neither, especially if you are going to pay as much for a monthly plan as someone with a newer phone have less features. To be clear, neither phone will get the new operating system.

The blackberry bold is supposed to be very capable of everything but I personally dislike it because its harder to type on.

Some people say the 8520 is the worst...that's the berry I have. It's actually great & the trackpad is amazing and efficient. It's great for pure fun too...easy access to media related items.

I chose the 9700 as the sceen had a better resolution for starters, which for my tired old eyes means a lot....

Having a daughter who's just changed to Blackberry, the move to Blackberry for me was a no brainer.

Can't tell you which is the worst BB, as I've only had my 9700 for just over a month. Pleased with it so far, although I've already had to do a battery pull to sort out a negative non-ongoing malfuctioning stationary camera zoom.....
