Hi!

Am new to BlackBerry forums and a new BB user. If i posted this thread in the wrong category, i do apologize.

I have a BB Curve 8520 and am loving it so far.

I have a BB case which is does not have RIM something-something incorporated. It's just a leather case which opens like a mini-pocketbook and locks with a magnetic flap. The magnetic flap locks in the back almost on top of the battery side.

RIM-enabled holsters are difficult to find and quite expensive here in the Philippines so I found the next best thing to help protect my BB in my pocket.

I would like to know if the magnet in the case has any effect on my battery or BB.

I appreciate your responses and other tips.

Nope.
RIM OEM holsters have a magnet in them which puts the device to sleep when in a holster. Thats also how the BB knows to use "In Holster" settings vs. "out of holster" settings.

chances are the magnet on the holder you have is working to put the BB to sleep. check to see if the screen light goes out when inserted. If it does then it's working. Try reversing the BB in the holder if not.
