Greetings all,

Well I wanted to make a few various audible email alerts for my 8700, so I fired up my applications, used speech synthesis and created a few alerts for any one who wishes to down load them.

They are all recorded at 41000khz 128bit MP3 files and have been normalized at 0db for maximum volume and clarity. Have fun and enjoy!

Here is the temporary URL so get em while they last, if some one is willing to host these for me, please PM since I would prefer to not keep this page available for an extended period of time.

Excellant job. I need some advice on how to install the darn things. I have never cared much about ring tones b4. However these are great and i would love to use them.

Any help would be nice.

I am going to update some of those with an alert tone before the vocal starts.

I will probably make a few with new messages also, some of those may be to long for some people so an alert tone with the vocal of varying lenth messages might be nice.

If you have an 8700c these come through on the speaker crystal clear ;)

To install these for the 8700 series, goto that page with your browser and get the link for which file you want, it will open a media player and then choose file, save. From there open your prefs up on your device and select the tone as your email alert or what not.

For any other models I am unsure if these will work since they are in mp3 format, but if some one wants to convert them for other models be my guest..

I hope this isn't changing the subject but for those that are interested in making their own custom ringtones like the ones in this thread try this site:

You just need to convert the file from .wav to .mp3 when you're done. I've placed a dozen or so custom ringtones on my 8700 this way.

thanks for that link, that is the neatest thing i've seen in a while. I do have another question? anyone know how to convert for the 7100i?
I'll go read over the FAQ's but i thought this may be quicker.

Try it from your 8700 with the later versions of OS. I know 8700/4.1.0.286 works. You can download the wav file directly, play it and if you like it save for a ringtone. Be sure to rename it before confirming the save.

If you have an 8700 with the later versions of OS, it will save and play wav files. I was just saying rename the filename to something that you can tell which ringtone it is, not the file type. Sorry I wasn't clear on that. Don't know if any other modles can use wav files. If you want it as an mp3 file you'll have to convert it with your PC.

Wow that is awesome!! Saves me from all the conversion... just wish it had the advanced chimes like in LGreenberg's tones.

I have successfully tried MP3 with 128 kbps 44100 Hrz Stereo and 64kbps 44100 Hrz Mono. Just had to cut them to be no bigger than 507k. On Linux it looks like this:
mpgtx -s your.mp3 [-507k] -o ringtone.mp3
One can play with the value in brackets to get the desired part of the mp3, e.g. [1000k-1507k] would also do.
Just in case, "lame -cbr -b 128 -m m -q 1" produced compartible output mp3.
