Friends,

Long time reader, first time poster. Is there an article somewhere on how best to integrate BlackBerry 9700 with Google Apps? I am looking for email, calendar and contact integration, and best settings, etc.

I did do some searching around, but can't find anything definitive.

I don't know about any article but I use my Blackberry Bold 9700 with Google Apps and it works very well.

For the Gmail, I set it up using BIS on http://carrier.blackberry.com. It works very well automatically (my phone/carrier also includes the Gmail Plug-in on the Bold 9700). I've also downloaded the actual Gmail application for the Bold 9700. I think it works well but generally I don't use it unless I want to access old e-mail which is no longer on my Bold 9700's Message Box.

In the BIS settings (set on the link), I don't turn on the "Contacts" synchronization. For the contacts synchronization and calendar synchronization, I use Google Sync. It works very well but I have gotten a few bugs/issues with it (such as duplicate or ghost entries) which I haven't gotten for awhile. I set Google Sync to synchronize automatically and it works well. The only thing you have to remember is that while your Blackberry is in your hoster/case, it won't synchronize.

I also use Google Maps with Location and Google Voice (as well as Google Chat) and the regular Google Search application. All work for me without any issues.

Help me understand what setting up BIS on carrier.blackberry.com means? I have T-Mobile.

Also, do you use IMAP settings? Do they work well?

I do have the actual Gmail app, but use it for personal Gmail, no my domain (work) email.

I'm not sure if it works for the same for T-Mobile or in other countries but in Canada, I'm with Rogers Wireless and I set my BIS settings by going to BlackBerry Internet Service, Fido Canada users would set their BIS settings at BlackBerry Internet Service, Wind Canada users would set their BIS settings at BlackBerry Internet Service, Bell Canada users would set their BIS settings at BlackBerry Internet Service, Telus Canada users would set their BIS settings at BlackBerry Internet Service. It is basically the carrier name followed by .blackberry.com (since I noticed that the forum transformed my URL name links into "Blackberry Internet Service"

I just tried the same thing with tmobile.blackberry.com and it didn't work and neither did t-mobile.blackberry.com

In regards to whether I use the IMAP settings, I don't. I use the BIS website configuration which is configured to access my personal Gmail account.

lmcjipo, thats because T-mobile US integrate their BIS with their My-tmobile page.

Right, I have use that. And supposedly they offer IMAP ... although it never really worked right. Thus my question, if there is any comprehensive experience to get this to work out there.
