Erm, nope. Unless you are syncing your entire contact list with Google, then you can do it via google.

well actually I'd like to clean up my contact list on my Pearl and clean up my contact list on m,y Gmail and synch or merge or something
Can you direct me to the instruction book on how to get that accomplished please

There's a good solution for this with a service from miqlive.

You sync your contacts with them, and can edit online and restore back to your device.
