I have an unlocked Bold with BB data plan in country A and I want to use a different SIM with BB data plan in country B - can I just swap out the SIM cards and use without complications?
Assuming yes to the above, how does BBM work in this scenario - will I need to set up the contacts again or are they just 'logged' to the PIN?

In the recent past I have put the same SIM card in 2 different BBs and they have just 'Registered' with the network and resumed where they left off. Will it be different with separate country networks?

You would have to unregister from BIS, connect to new BIS, then unregister BIS and reconnect original BIS.
Which is a pain. and also, it would be a case of deleting the BIS account to remove the association with the PIN of your BB.

From my own experience, you migth not need to change sims, in some countries with BBM services, you could connect using your origial sim, but very probably you wil be charged international roaming. For instance and happened to me, for business reasons I started to travel regularly to Panama, at the begining I did not have BBM service even though I had international roaming, at that time i bought a Sim from Panama and that was it. A couple of trips later, I used the BBM with the original sim so I cancel the data plan in Panama. I hope it helps. By the way, ther is a double sim adaptor that is sold in England that fits the Bold, brings a software that you install in the phone that recognizes the different sims and switch conecction automaticallly. It is not cheap if I recall is around 70 euros.

no need to unregister and re regiter from bis. i have bis with fido on my bb 9000. went to philippines pop in their smart sim card. activated bb service. viola everythign works email. bb messenger.
