Default 8900 in mexico?

Please Login to Remove!

Good evening everyone,

I'm completly new blackberry wise.
I'm wondering if a Blackberry curve 8900 ( Originally from Rogers but unlocked) will work in Mexico??
I can't seem to find out what bands they are using there and if both the 2g and the internet works there.

Any information or links would be greatly appreciated!!
Thank you, I await Blackberry forum replies

Yes, the 8900 is quad band and it will work in Mexico. Data services are hit and miss but usually work.

you'll need to check with your carrier though....

some of them can / will outright block you from using roaming data. usually, they just charge you through the nose though.

Oh I plan on using a mexico chip for the time being there, roaming fee is way too high usually.

Thank you for the replies!!

Major problem guys!

I ordered an unlock code and it didn't work.
Blackberry 8900 locked to Rogers.

I followed the instruction as below

- Remove sim card
-Turn off all wireless connection
ALT MEPE then the Enter the MEP code appears
I typed in my code press the track ball
It says Code ERROR
Is it a bad code or did I do something wrong, I'm sure I gave the correct IMEI.

The answer is the same as the other thread you started about this subject. Don't remove the sim card. Start at Options and go from there. Make sure all connections are off in the Manage Connections folder.
