Default App that shows open programs

Is there an app that will display the names of programs that's running in the background? If I exit an app by using the back button is that program still running in the background?

Yes. Some apps allow you to completely exit the program by pressing and holding the escape key. However, it's always best practice to press the Menu Key and select Close/Exit.

To see the apps that are running in the background, Press Alt + Esc.

Actually, it's already built into the BlackBerry OS! Simply select the menu key (BlackBerry button) from the homescreen (or from most other apps), and scroll down to/select Switch Application to bring up a scrollable list of icons representing background applications.

The Escape key is the back key.

That screen will only show what apps are currently running.
