bbm 5.0.0.57 for OS 4.5, usb install for email plan
Please Login to Remove!
My wife only has a email/messaging plan. Is there some place to download bbm 5.0.0.57 for os 4.5 for a curve 8300 to install via the desktop manager? I've poked around multiple forums and found nothing.

I don't believe so. Do you have a BlackBerry as well with a BB data plan?

Yes. and I think I see where you are going as I already figured I could just plop my sim in hers. problem is I receive a lot of messages and emails and don't want them to come in on hers. Her device is personal, mine is work, don't wanna create a mess. Could probably temp turn off email downloads, disable bes sync etc. just seems like a lot of work when rim should be providing this as a cod/alx for us as they did previously. Too bad there's no way to use bluetooth to have her use my data plan temporarily for stuff like this. blackberry to blackberry bluetooth tether LOL

I wasn't necessarily going there. First, popping your SIM card into her device will NOT in any way activate her on your company's BES. She would not receive any email from any account at all! It would only give her BlackBerry data to download the app.
However, your wife will need a BlackBerry data plan to use BBM, so this all seems moot.

No, she has an email/messaging plan. she can use email, and any messaging such as msn, bbm, yahoo, etc, just can't browse the web. they are $15 blackberry plans so its not moot. she's already on messenger, but has 5.0.0.33 which is buggy with groups and sending files where 57 seems to be working much better.

Easiest way would be to use your SIM card. None of your settings, emails, etc will show on her device. Just pop it in, download and install BBM and then swap the SIM cards back.
Either that, or download it onto your device, then back up your 3rd party applications, then restore it to her device.
I believe it should show in the 3rd party applications. If not, then you would need to do it by the SIM card.

Oh ya, all emails, bes etc go to pin, not sim.. duh /me smacks head. sorry, hump day. brain turned off apparently
I'll try sim swap and see if she gets an edge connection (think I tried this once for someone a year or so back and it refused data connection or something which might have been the nagging in my mind, but I could be wrong)
I'd use the backup but I don't think bbm for os5 will install on 4.5, will it?
I'm running os 5 on a curve 8900 vs her on 4.5 on my old 8310.
thanx for the help. I'll risk the sim and report back if all hell breaks loose haha

BBM 5.0.0.57 should install fine on hers if that's what you're using as well.
Report back if it works or if all hell breaks loose.

Why?
First, this thread is 2 months old.
Second, the user's issue is resolved.
Third, 5.0.33 is old, outdated, and has known issues.
