One of our users brought me a Bold 9000 with a weird problem.

The trackball works fine, no dirt in it or anything but when pressed it doesn't work as expected, instead it works like I pressed the L button. It takes me to the address book under section L.

When I open a new e-mail and press the trackball in a textfield the letters hl are printed.

I tried a battery pull and even a firmware upgrade from 4.6.0.216 to 4.6.0.303. Nogo.

Now I want to wipe the blackberry but then it asks me to type the word "blackberry". The problem is that also the A does not seem to work anymore, instead I get the letters "uo".

Anyone?

I wiped the device with option 4 so the 507 message was shown. Then I installed fw 4.6.0.303. It didn't work. I can't even pass the intro screens with the trackball (only when using the enter key instead).

Can I now safely assume that there is some kind of hardware error?
