1st thing to try when you suddenly have odd trouble with the blackberry: Remove the battery for about 30 seconds.

Have you tried that yet?

Check Data Services in Mobile Network options and make sure it is not set to off.

You may have to continue doing that when you leave wifi in order to turn off that notice; and just remember to enable data services again when you are in wifi again.

EDIT # 2. Forget my last edit. If you disable mobile network, you disable phone. Dumb suggestion. Forget what I wrote.

Default Try This:

Turn off wifi on your phone - then go to Settings/options/advanced options/host routing table - highlight WiFi(60) and press the blackberry key, then "Register Now". Now, back out and enable wifi. Wait about 5 minutes and see if it does the trick....

yes, thats what you do.
you highlight wifi(60) entry with the trackball, then hit the bb menu key, and scroll to Register now, and click.

He/she wasn't in wifi at the time and had to wait until such time to find out if that was the fix or not.
