Default HELP! 9700 Internet connection issues...

Please Login to Remove!

I'm not sure what is going on here. Did some searching, but haven't found a similar issue. Edge does not seem to let me consistently connect to the Internet.

Just got my new 9700. Finally "moved in" from my old 8310, and got all the furniture arranged. Noticed right off that I was having trouble connecting to web pages through the BBBrowser/Bolt on Edge. The "requesting" blue bar takes forever! Many minutes on Edge. Then times out. No issues with email or texting.

When I turned on WiFi/Edge off, here on my home network, web pages load very quickly. When I turn WiFi off/Edge on, I consistently get the error "A communication failure has occurred. The server may be busy, please try again later" on Edge. Not having much luck with Edge. Google, say, may load, but a search gives the error. Wifi seems fine. On my 8310, I never had issue with the Internet on Edge. As soon as the 9700 arrives, it is painfully slow, or errors out.

Is this a network issue, or something in my BB?

Thanks!

CG

Wirelessly posted (White and Nerdy)

It may very well be an outage or congestion in your area

Hmmmm... I live in the middle or nowhere. I suppose a call to a fellow BB user or two might confirm a network issues? I'll look into this.

A question. Just got off the phone with tech support, and they tell me there is a data outage in my area. However, I just drove 60 miles to my ATT store, and we compared my dealers Bold and my 9700. When we tried web pages at the same time, hers popped right up on Edge, mine never did load. Is it possible to be under the same tower but yet for my phone to be effected by some "data outage" someplace else geographically? I would think if hers worked mine should work. Thoughts?

Do a battery pull or better yet download the free Quickpull app that similates a battery pull. This is the only way to reboot a BB. I do it at least twice a week. It really cleans up the OS...like rebooting a computer.

I'm the King of Battery pulls! Even let it stay out for an hour. Comparing my friends 8310 who is sitting here next to me, he can connect vie Edge very quick. Mine just sits there and may eventually connect, or give me a network error. Sigh. I'll give 'em a day and see what tomorrow holds.

Default It Was The Sim Card!!!

After an hour on the phone with tech support, they suggested I trade it for a new 9700. Never noticed before, but my EDGE was "edge" instead of EDGE. They fixed that o'er the phone, but still s-l-o-w to access web pages. Swapped for a new one--same thing. Then the brilliant sales person suggested I get a new SIM card (this was my old one from my original 8310). BAM!

The case is solv-ed. Until we meet again....
