Default Questions before updating to OS 5.0.0.554 or 5.0.0.351

Please Login to Remove!

Soo, right now i currently have OS V 5.0.0.296 (platform 5.1.0.83)

I see that there is already an update for the OS in this link http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...0-0-351-a.html

Now my question is, is this for at&t or Rogers Wireless ??

why is there 2 different versions? .554 and .351 ?

if i do update, will I lose my APPs that i downloaded? will I still have at&t mall? and all at&t APPs?

Unless you have a compelling reason to, think twice before updating.

There is one version. BlackBerry OS versions commonly use the "applications version" as the version referred to. This particular release is

Package Version: 5.0.0.554 - Applications: 5.0.0.351

So it is referred to as 5.0.0.351

All handheld OS are written by RIM and tested and released by the carriers. This version was released by Rogers, but will work on any 9700.

All of your data and apps will be backed up as part of the update, and restored at the end.

And I again stress that unless you are having problems, you may want to wait for AT&T to release a version so that you can get support from them if necessary.

I'd like to ask as well. I'm using an AT&T branded, unlocked 9700 but on a Globe Telecom network. My firmware is also .296 but AT&T has an official released .463. Is this applicable to me as well, or should I wait for a Globe Telecom-specific update for the 9700?

Frankly, I'd hold off until the next new OS release. I had some problems with the current .351 release not correctly reconciling SMS phone numbers with my address book. The "leaked" .415 OS fixed the problem but it's still not an official release so there may still be some bugs in it.

T-Mobile Germany just released .351 as official... and in addition to .415, I have seen .405 and .421 "leaked". I've been running .415 for over a week now and it seems very stable. I have not noticed any problems with it.
