Default Telus TCP/IP

Please Login to Remove!

Am I supposed to have TCP/IP when using Telus network? My 7250 is now activated and I can get most things working, but I have no TCP menu in my options... anybody?

Welcome to the wonderful world of Telus restricted CDMA.

No... Telus will not give you TCP?IP info. What is it you're trying to get working?

I'm really confused, as looking through the FAQ, it says:

Telus - CDMA - Has TCP/IP
Recently, in late 2005, this feature got activated on newer Telus units. Newer models including 7250 now has a TCP/IP stack, no configuration is needed. Many third party Internet applications work out of the box on it! However, the older 6750 and 7750 models will NOT work with TCP/IP.

OK Meghurtz, you can't use any IM progs as Telus block access. Same with IRC and any other internet app. This is due to network restrictions imposed by Telus. Don't even try to call and complain.... I did and got no help from them.

On the plus side the new version of PocketDay WILL work with your 7250 www.crossriversystems.com and set "Communications" to BIS.

Yeah... As far as I know that will solve the problem... I refuse to do that as I'm already paying for "unlimited" usage and can't see why I should pay more.

They said they WILL give out the gateway information if the "engineers" feel it is for a valid need. They have to submit a problem ticket and I guess they review each case on an individual case. I put in my ticket tonight, I will let you know my findings

Good luck! You never know, though I'm sure the engineers are probably basing the decision on necessity, ie. emergency services, etc.
A hosted bes solution will open the door for all of those programs you're lookin at.

I hate to spend another 10 bucks a month though... I'm already paying 90 for the plan, plus 5 bucks for caller ID, 6.95 for system access fees, probably a few bucks for SMS messages that I send, paying 16 bucks for satellite radio in my car and 10 bucks a month for my website, all these small monthly fees are going to kill me lol.

No word from Telus as of lunchtime today, still got my fingers crossed.

Ok sorry guys (and gals) what is the impact to me, the regular "Joe BlackBerry" user. I'm not sure I understand the limitations implied by this? Thanks in advance for any clarification you can provide.

Are you using BES or BWC? 3rd party apps will work on BES... just not BWC and I'm not paying anymore than I am now.

I've deleted and reloaded my service books umpteen times with no luck.... still having problems with the "WAP Browser (Telus)" program, it won't make a connection, I called Telus on it and they said there was a mistake in my account and it should work after a bit, but it still ain't.

Maybe I'll get lucky and qualify for the gateway. I do work in a job where having emergency access is important, so we'lll see
