Default HUGE Blackberry Storm Question! Please help!

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys,

I was just able to get ahold of a used Blackberry Storm through VERIZON. I use Tmobile as my provider and obviously have a sim card. I noticed in back of the Verizon Blackberry Storm there was a place for a sim card. The verizon sim card wouldn't come out easy, but it got me thinking. Is there anyway at all I can unlock the Verizon Blackberry Storm and use it as a Tmobile storm? I thought I read somewhere it was possible even though it was Verizon so I thought I would ask. If not, anyone want to trade a storm for a 3G Iphone? Haha... anyways guys if someone can tell me if this is possible to unlock so I an start using it for Tmobile that would be great! Thanks!

I wasnt able to look to see if it was unlocked... I couldnt figure out how to type in that MEPD... but anyways I am assuming it is locked considering it was only ever used for verizon. Say I do unlock and reset it and use it for tmobile again. If I reset it sometime in the future will it be able to be used with verizon again with no problem?

The unlocking is done completely on the Storm handset itself, no need for a pc (or Mac). To get the code you either ask Verizon for it (free, but you need an account in good standing with them, minimum 90 days) or buy it from someone like Horizon Wireless. I highly suggest using a reputable service like Horizon Wireless. So many of those bargain-basement services are either scams or just plain incompetent. Horizon is a class outfit with tons of positive feedback by forum members here.

How to Enter Unlock Codes on BlackBerry Storm 9530 9500:

1. Insert any sim card
2. Turn off all of the wireless connections
3. Go to Options
4. Select Advanced Options
5. Select SIM Card
6. Hit menu select show keyboard
7. Enter mepd (you will not be able to see the typed info)
8. Enter mep2
9. Now it will say enter network mep code

Would one unlock code work for a bunch of blackberry storms or do you need a specific one for your storm?

each unlock code is based on the IMEI of the device
they are specific to each device.

Well, no.
Not with something like unlock codes.
You have to pay before knowing if the code works or not, and then you might not get your money back.
try horizon wireless. If they cant unlock it, you get your money back.

Being a Verizon customer, I called them and they walked me through the process for free.
I had been a customer for a few months, and they did it with no problem

yeah I just tried that and they said i could not get the unlock code until i activated the phone with verizon. i called using my girlfriends account saying she wanted to switch her phone to a storm cause I bought her one for her bday but she didnt want to switch until she knew she could unlock it. She has been a customer for like 5 years and they still wouldn't give us the code. Whats up with that?!
