I see the voicemail .wav shown as an attachment on my email but I have not found anyway to retrieve it or play it. It is created by AT&T's voicemail system. Anyone figured out a way to download and save or play the attachment?

Not sure I understand how you see a voicmail.wav as part of your email unless you sent it. Don't think the device supports wav files but not sure? Please explain.

My phone service emails me my voicemails as .wav attachments. On a PC I can open the attachment and play it. I was hoping to be able to do the same with the 8700. I thought I read it supported .wav, .mp3, & .mid but I could be wrong since I can't find it now.

I know you can play a wav from the net, but apparently you cannot receive and play any music file from e-mail, which blows.

BES 4.0.3 appears to support wav files in its attachment service but it is not enabled by default. I havn't found anyone that has enabled it and tried it.

If BES supports it I imagine it would only be a matter of time before the Internet Service does as well...

I can get to the .wav files via the browser and play them. I can also save them; however, I can't find a way to delete the saved .wav files. Also the only way I have found to play the saved .wav file is to edit one of the profiles and change to select the desired file. This tells me there must be a media player in the device, how to surface it so we can play files when we want to. Any one know the trick? Also how to delete the unwanted files?

Dynoplex has a file manager program but I am not sure it would help here. Also don't they will playback on demand.

Will the file manager allow you to edit these files that are on the BB?

And the owner posts here to. Start a thread in 3rd party software or contact them for you needs. Did you see my post that I could not play your ringtones for some reason on my 8700?

To delete audio you downloaded goto profiles, say show tunes, then delete whatever you dont want...hope this helps

My AT&T/Lucent voice mail system sends me emails with WAV attachments whenever anyone leaves me a voice mail.

I uploaded one of the files to my web server and then tried to play it via the browser on the 8700. The file was downloaded and the player was launched but then nothing happens. I also saved it. I can see it and delete in Tunes but still no luck playing it. Properties of the file as follows:

Bit rate: 13 kbps
Channels: 1 (mono)
Audio sample rate: 8 khz
Audio format: GSM 6.10

While BES 4.0.3 does have 'support' for .wav files, it does not appear to have full support implemented. Once enabled on the BES, it is getting unknown file when clicking on Open Attachment (there is a thread concerning this).

Now, the issue with WAV files is that they, like MP3 files, only support sample rates higher than 32khz. This gives you about 2 seconds of audio, which is pointless. All voice mail systems will send out the VMs at 8khz sample rate, by default. I'm not sure what RIM was thinking when implementing such 'high' sample rates as a minimum, but that needs to change.

Something sneaky that I had done was when my voiceservice emails me a voicemail attachment as an mp3 a script automatically converts and encodes it to the correct format of 32000khz, etc. Then it automatically uploads to a webpage where I can go on the BlackBerry browser, simply click the link and boom, voicemail plays. Like Jibi said the time of the audio is crazy when browsing the MP3 thread I saw that using Cingular's HTML browser larger files could be supported up to 500kb. So now I can listen to a couple minute voicemail with no issue. Very sneaky...

Had one of my coders do it, to tell you the truth I am not 100% sure, when the email comes in it strips the attachment, encodes that and uploads to a website...ill find out more and let you know

Guys, this absolutely sucks. My company finally enables the capability for our voicemail system to send me wav files and the darn 8700c cannot play them. Boy I hope someone comes up with a reasonable solution to this!
